Posted by spawn on Nov 13, 2004

I will be cohosting for Jowl in a few days, you will refer to me as Spawn for a while because I will be cohosting every week when he has basketball games.

I would like to learn about game programming and steps to making the perfect video game.

While being Jowl’s cohost I will try and cover what you need to do to make an excellent video game. This is what I intend to be cohost for, I will also be doing much much more so listen next week, IT’S SPAWN!!!

ChefTD:

As it turns out, Jowl didn’t miss the shows, but thanks Spawn for volunteering to step into his shoes when/if he misses shows for upcoming basketball games.

To bad I was really looking forward to hearing Spawns Ideas for a game and how to go about creating one. Most of us Webmasters have thought about this but dont know where to begin. Maybe Spawn can have his own little entree on the Webmasters Cookbook.

Spawn,

it is a bit difficult to hear you during the show, but from what I can hear clearly, I do detect the desire to learn to program. Congrats, because that is an important ingredient to becomming a top rank programmer. However, if you wish to enter into the world of game development or any aspect of programming, you need to learn to pay a little more attention to details, i.e. like posting your completed assignments in the correct directories. It is the little details that will make you or break you as programmer/developer.

Now if you would enjoy a good source of information to stay current with what’s happening in the world of game development, have ChefTD sign you up for a free subscription to GameDeveloper magazine at: http://sf.tradepub.com/free/gd/.

I do look forward to watching both you & Jowl develop good coding skills & excelling as a programmer. The logic & skills of problem solving that you develop shall help you in other areas of your life too, so there are other benefits to be had. I wish you the best as your education continues & like ChefTD, I am here to help if you need it.
