Jowl’s Uncle Paul is a big South Park fan, so I thought Jowl would get a kick out of this: South Park Character Generator. Jowl, why don’t you create your own character and send your uncle this link? The character I made is shown to the right.
I already thanked him in the comments, but Dave Winer created a audio.weblogs.com ping debugger to help podcasters with getting their feeds listed in audio.weblogs.com. This RSS 2.0 feed wasn’t validating because it was missing the language en-us tag. Wordpress users that are having this same problem, you will want to add the following to your wp-rss2.php file just beneath the channel description and then pinging again either manually using the audio.weblogs.com ping form or through trackback using http://audiorpc.weblogs.com/RPC2. Here’s the code to add:
<language>en-us</language>

We had a little misunderstanding and now ill have to check every post but i’m unsure how I’m going to do this! ChefTD, lol i’m looking forward to hearing how to do this.
I’m not going to be treating anyone to treats this year because my parents did buy treats but I got hungry. I will most likely be going to friends houses. So you might say I will be tricking or trying to trick or treat lol. I am al little big so it might be hard for me to pass off as a young kid, but I’ll make the best of it. all I do know is that I will be at a dance tonight.
Because this is a family-friendly website and blog and we’ve had a few undesirable comments (mostly spam-oriented), we’ve now had to turn on comment moderation. Therefore, any comment made must first be approved by Jowl, the site admin or ChefTD before being made visible on the website. ChefTD is going to make sure Jowl is up to speed on how to do this today. Sorry for the inconvenience, the Webmaster Cookbook cooking staff will try to routinely approve comments.
Also, if registering for this site or making comments, please do not link to any adult-oriented sites. Keep it clean as there are younger folks here. You are welcome to and encouraged to put up links to your mainstream family-friendly websites, especially if it is webmaster-related.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Hi all girls and guys that have just signed up for webmastercookbook I thank you all and keep looking for new additions every day. I also want to give a special thanks to my teacher Mr Fries for all his work and correcting my errors.

Show Summary:
No wrapper to go through what happened on last week’s show. ChefTD walks Jowl through the basic idea behind Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and they modify the webmastercookbook stylesheet to add an About section next to the logo. Towards the end ChefTD talks to Jowl about how to add content to website and search for music that artists will grant permission to use during the radio show. ChefTD plays a few minutes of Beseech song Rainbow Man which was the very first song he was given permission to play on the first official radio show he ever hosted in June 2000 and the first time any music has been played on on Webmaster Cookbook.
Will the Yankees beat the Boston Red Socks, or will they lose bad. I think they will lose very bad. You must give credit to the Bost Red Socks for beating the Yankees the last two nights.
The yankees could have beat the Boston Red Socks but they keep losing in extra innings. Thats also true for the St.Louis Cardinals they were up two games. But now the Houston Astros have come back and beat the St. Louis Cardinals three times. I think the Houston Astros Will beat The Cardinals bad.
ChefTD compliments me and says that im not forgetting my skills. I do think he is right, my skills arent gone and I proved it. =)

Drinks (cool stuff to add to your websites):
- several FREE podcasting applications
Appetizers (hungry for knowledge, this will get you started)
- How to obtain the weekly Webmaster Cookbook podcast
Main Course (the meat and potatoes of the show)
- A 50 question test of the first 10 lessons/weeks of Webmaster Cookbook. See how you score! Who will get the first perfect score!
Dessert (fun and fat-free stuff)
- No dessert for today’s show, it’s all business
The Check (what did we learn today)
- No check today, as the main course is a test of the last 10 weeks. How good did you listen?
Show Summary:
More alien voices as it turns out that the windows media encoder was turning the audio funky and literally cuts off the first part of the show. Jowl takes the 50 question test. ChefTD takes Jowl through each of the 50 questions and then later Mom says she will score better than Jowl, and ChefTD challenges her to take the test, which she does. After answering all 50 questions, ChefTD takes Jowl back through the questions and corrects him where he is wrong.
I’m very enthusiastic about tomorrows big test. I’m hoping to pass it, I have been studying and I will be studying more tonight. So listen in tomorrow to hear me pass the test or fail the test.
If you substitute “meals” for categories then you’ll be hip with what’s happening with the Webmaster Cookbook URLs.
Speaking of food, no meal for me is complete without Tabasco sauce and Costco has a killer deal going on the sauce:

I’m not sure where the term crufty URLs came from (and I’m probably going to look really dumb for not looking it up, but this gives us something to research for the show tomorrow), but the site now has better formed URLs.
Tomorrow is the big test day. Jowl’s chance to show how much he’s really learned the first 10 weeks of the show. He’s about 1/3rd of the way through the experiment and he’ll have a chance to go on and take the test live on show #11. Tune in tomorrow for the official menu and the live show at 3pm PST / 6pm EST / 11pm GMT
Im half way through this book and I am enjoying it. It has a great plot and the main character is sneaky. If I had to rate this book id give it a A- . It compacts mystery with action which I like. It is about a boy named bean who is real smart and is found by a person who runs a battle school. Then the person gives Bean a chance to go to battle school. Now there thinking of kicking him out cause he knows to much.
The Seattle Seahawks are off to a promising start after winning 3 and losing only 1. This year I hope to see them get to the superbowl.
Although I also want my favorite team to win, my favorite team is the Green Bay Packers. I will be rooting for both the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers to win.
At the start of show #10 there were some complaints from listeners about “weird, alien voices” and after just going through the archives I’ve got an explanation. The initial wrapup MP3 clip was encoded at a different, conflicting bitrate and when it was mixed live with the show, it made it sound screwy. The good news is that you can listen to the wrapup as it was originally intended — and not how it was broadcasted live — here. Listeners to show #10 will hear the show start with this weird, alien voices which in fact is the sound of mismatched bitrates. I’ve decided to leave this in as is, but for those new to the feed, please understand that once the show actually begins, you’ll hear normal sounding voices. It only impacts the wrapup segment.
I’m listening to other radio shows while working and I want to show a little link love:
Trade Secrets — Adam Curry interviews Dave Winer
Talk about a universal way to deal with auto subscribing to podcasting and improvements coming for the iPodder podcast directory. Categories can be managed via OPML outliner documents which Hans van Raamt shows how to do here and Adam talks about here. I’m thinking it would be cool to help out with the website builder category. Also some political stuff, including the European perspective on the recent Presidential debate. Personally, I didn’t care for the political part of the program but the rest was cool.
The Daily Source Code — Listened to two shows Friday October 7 and today’s show. My notes from listening:
Oct 7: Adam Curry, formerly of MTV fame, in his car, you can hear him buckling his seatbelt and other assorted noises and then he spins the famous Sniff n Tears song: Driver’s Seat — nice! He introduces a few podcasts while driving around in his car when a guy drives up and honks his horn and holds up his iPod and says he is listening to a podcast!
Oct 11: Adam Curry from Amsterdam.
I’ll add more radio show notes as I listen to them. Back to work!
I must say that we had some problems during yesterdays show. But we pulled through it, ChefTD said speak up Jowl. We ended up calling my mom and I ended up talking to her while ChefTD tried to fix the problems we were having.
I did learn how to take screen shots, and ChefTD showed me a stick figure game. After this whole ordeal, we went and got my tux.
We’ve fixed the RSS enclosure feed so it goes directly to the MP3 files now and tested with ipodder and sorry to those who tried to grab the show and weren’t able to get it to work right, I’ve tested and it’s working now. As of this post only show #9 is available, but we’ll be adding show #10 shortly plus a new category to this blog called: podcasts. I have submitted to Adam Curry our podcast link and hopefully he’ll list our show in his podcast directory.
Each week Webmaster Cookbook starts with a brief wrapup of the prior week’s show. Usually this wrapup runs a couple minutes in length. You can read a summary of each show at the end of official menu and also we’ve broken out the wrapup separately so you can catch some of the finer points of the show before listening to the full feed.
